January Jazz – Taking Stock

January Jazz – Taking Stock

Apparently, January is the least productive month because most of it is spent on planning organizing, resetting, and refreshing our goals. The rest of it is spent lamenting on how it drags on. Before you know it, it’s February. This is my Taking Stock creative catch up for the month that was. Hint: A link magnet.

Pip Lincolne is a fantastic writer. Her space, Meet Me At Mikes is an idea haven. Her Taking Stock Prompts birthed my series.

Creativity and productivity held court & I suspect the spillover will be felt in the coming months. I had a blast, laughed, thought, and learned.

The Accidental Creative– where has this pod been all my life? The host (Todd Henry) a treat. The guests (like Tiago Forte) a plus.

Joe Budden Podcast – Not in a million years would I sit down and listen to Joe outside of his music. But I did. And I loved the conversations. Something of a cultural moment.

The Less Doing Podcast – Learned a thing or two there.

Hitting the big 3-0 in the foreseeable future shhh. Exciting? Kind of. Scary? Pretty much. I have so much to do with so little time. Janelle Harris speaking to us girls who continuously press the panic buttons is the pep talk I badly needed. With all these plans and projections one has to simply live in the moment. It gets better with age they say.

Blogging has evolved over the years and so has my outlook. So anything that provides insight into my seemingly clue-free self, I’m in there fishing. We’ll have to custom build new paths for our creative juices.

Speaking of Algorithms, how’s your feed coming along? It started with Facebook and now Instagram won’t stop showing us New Year Posts. Former President Obama gets it too. “That’s what’s happening with these Facebook pages where more and more people are getting their news from. At a certain point, you just live in a bubble…” Well news flash Facebook is done with Publishers

I think shower thoughts are mostly underrated yet all so powerful time-fillers. I came up with my own system dubbed Spark File for putting stock in my own ideas. Every thought in there goes into that file. Of course borrowed heavily from Tiago Forte’s Building a Second Brain concept. Be nice to see some of my ideas come to life in the long run.

Really proud to see him hit his milestones quite early. He’s a warrior. Teething is a constant, picky eating and weird sleep patterns are my usual frustrations. But he’s amazing and I cannot wait for him to start talking.

A throw blanket I had stopped crocheting when we moved towns but I figured this would work perfectly when I am listening to a pod.

Anyone else obsessed with the grey teal yellow color scheme? I just want to talk…

Seriously contemplating vacating WordPress. It’s knocked me off the perch and aged me the last 3 posts on sync issues and auto-posting. I just can’t.

My Taking Stock Series was inspired by Pip whose draft who can use to come up with your own list.

Or you could try mine. Here’s a blank one.
